Academic Legal Writing Handbook

The art of legal writing demands more than just legal education and strong writing abilities: it requires a deep understanding of the law, the capacity to think critically, innovation, continuous research, and advanced writing skills to effectively convey complex legal ideas.

Unfortunately, Azerbaijani lawyers have navigated this path without clear guidance, relying on various foreign sources to learn about legal writing. This is due to the absence of a comprehensive guide or systematic resource in local literature outlining the standards for academic legal writing and how it should be produced. This gap in our academic sphere has quietly hindered brilliant minds who wish to contribute to the development of law.

As the Editorial Board, we have decided to create an Academic Legal Writing Handbook (hereinafter referred to as the “Handbook”), drawing on the Journal’s long-standing experience to address this gap. The primary aim of the Handbook is to serve as a guide for those interested in academic legal writing, providing insights along the way. We believe this Handbook will assist authors in contributing to the advancement of legal academia.
